Artist Statement
Kurt Vonnegut gave the definition of an artist as someone who could not necessarily control all the details of the their life but could control what went on a canvas, or a piece of paper, or a lump of clay. Well, sometimes I can do that to a certain degree. But you know there are so many variables in making pots that if you dont get each step along the way just right all you end up with is land fill. But when it does turn out right it is like magic, to open a kiln and find pots that are even better than you had imagined. It is always magic, sometimes you just have to take a step back and think how in the hell did I manage to do that. Then almost assuredly someone will come along and ask you to do it bigger and better. I hope you enjoy the pots. (Click on images below for larger view.)
