Artist Statement
Communicating a mood and creating an interesting piece is what challenges me as an artist. Whether it be a landscape en plein air or portrait/figurative work in studio the compositional possibilities are endless. While using oil paint; color, lighting, texture, and atmosphere are what make working from life wonderful. There is no substitute. Before focusing on oil painting, I worked as a commercial artist and photo finish operator. American expressionism would best describe my style of painting. (Click on images below for larger view.)
